About This Course

This is a 3 Module course specially designed for general practitioners, diabetologists and consulting physicians which not only will help in better understanding of the need of employing newer integrated systems but also equip with alternative methods for treatment and management of diabetic patients due to the infectiveness of the traditional methods which were used so far. The Course comes along with various illustrative studies and proven facts for diabetes management. Each module highlights updated standard protocols and latest advancements along with expert opinions and discussions to provide optimum care and glycaemic control which can be introduced in routine practice.

He heads clinical care, research, education and also oversees a philanthropic rural diabetes care program at the Institute. He has published the largest multicentre study of subjects with pancreatitis and pancreatic diabetes worldwide, in addition to his many other publications. He is also the former editor-in-chief and founder editor of the Journal of Thyroid Research and Practice. He is executive editor of Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He has more than 190 publications in Indexed Journals. He holds many awards to his honour like Subash Mukherjee Oration award of the Endocrine Society of India, Srivastava Award of the RSSDI (India's largest diabetes society) for his contribution to diabetes in India, Jacob Memorial Prize for the best patient care awarded by the Christian Medical College, Vellore, in 1998, Fellowship Award of the RSSDI in 2017, Dr. Sam GP Moses oration award by the Diabetes Association of India in 2018, Diabetes Excellence Award at Digital Diabetes Summit at Hyderabad, 2019.

He is the Professor and Head of Department at IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. He is also the Consultant at Nightingale Hospital and GD Hospital and Diabetes Institute Kolkata, West Bengal. He is the Immediate Past President, Endocrine Society of India. He is also the President, Endocrine Society of Bengal And Secretary, RSSDI, West Bengal Chapter. He holds many awards to his merits such as St. Vincent Clinical Research Fellow in 1996-97 – UK, Prestigious Prof. MMS Ahuja Memorial Oration at National Conference of Endocrine Society of India, Tirupati in 2007, Prestigious Sanofi-Aventis Lecture on Diabetes at APICON 2011 in Ahmedabad in 2011.

Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist in Regency Hospital & Centre for Diabetes & Endocrine diseases last 25 years. He is a well known member of many societies Like Endocrine Society of India (ESE) , Research Society for study of diabetes in India (RSSDI), Indian Society of Bone & Mineral Research (ISBMR), Indian Thyroid Society, Paediatric Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association (ADA), British Endocrine Society (BES), International Society for paediatric & adolescent diabetes. (ISPAD), Indian Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology. (ISPAE), All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity. (AIAARO). He also many awards to his honour such as Best oral paper Award, RSSDI 2015 (Lucknow) and Best poster Award, Diabetes India 2016 (Delhi). He has also written many publications as Chapters in Endocrine Society of India, Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India textbook, Indian Journal of Endocrinology, and metabolism and Mishti Guardian by CDIC.

Objectives of the Course

  • To guide the physicians with the use of newer and latest methods of glucose monitoring systems.
  • To equip the physicians with the importance to individualize treatment protocols as per clinical requirements.
  • Helps the physicians to understand different ways to analyze clinical records for optimum diabetes management.
  • This course shall also help the physicians with the use of CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) for achieving accuracy in glycaemia control in type 2 DM.
  • The course also highlights latest evolving technologies in diabetic therapy and its systematic application in clinical practice.
